Puget Sound waters and ensure a healthy environment,

Clean
Marina Washington Coalition brings EnviroStars
Certification to Washington State Marinas,
05-06
(WA State DOE and King Co. DNR/Splash)
A
Clean Marina Designation indicates that a marina is
in full compliance with environmental regulations,
has voluntarily adopted additional environmental practices
and has passed a rigorous certification inspection
by county pollution experts. In Washington,
a Clean Marina certification indicates that the facility
has also been certified as an EnviroStars business.
The EnviroStars program, an incentive-based pollution
prevention certification program administered by County
governments, rewards businesses that take voluntary
steps to reduce pollution, with particular focus on
hazardous waste management and reduction.
The
Clean Marina program represents a 3-way partnership
between the recreational boating industry, represented
by the Northwest Marina Trade Association, Puget Soundkeeper
Alliance and the EnviroStars Cooperative. Washington's
first Clean Marina flag was awarded to Elliott Bay
Marina honoring the marina's 10-year history as an
environmentally responsible marina. Along with
Elliott Bay Marina, the partnership also recognizes
Shilshole Bay , Port of Blaine, Brownsville, Stimson,
Foss Waterway, Breakwater and Chinook Landing Marinas
as EnviroStars-Certified Clean Marinas. At least
4 additional marinas have certifications pending.

are currently certified as EnviroStars.
