that the pollution is from an illegal source, the
staff at Puget Soundkeeper then contacts the party
responsible for the pollution. We have had many cases
in which we can work with the polluter to educate
them about the laws.
If
we have made every effort to work with the responsible
party and they are still polluting, we then contact
the appropriate governing body. These include the
Department of Ecology and the Environmental Protection
Agency. Further incidents of pollution will result
in lawsuits by Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, sanctioned
under the Clean Water Act. Your call can make a
