Biology & Ecology

Biological and ecological aspects of Puget Sound.

The biology and ecology of Puget Sound are complex and fascinating.

Remnants of the natural ecology can still be seen in a few places of old-growth forest in the Pacific Northwest, but the climax ecology of the rain forests of Puget Sound has been altered almost beyond recognition by human activity since the mid-nineteenth century.

The marine environment has also been altered, but it is still rich and diverse.
